GTA VI is the costliest video game ever. It’s going to be released in May 2026, and the enormous amount invested reflects the amount of work that’s being put into it.

GTA VI Requires a Great Deal of Effort

It cost $2 billion and seven years to make GTA VI. The cash was spent on a large game world that resembles Miami, improved characters, and really clear graphics. They also invested in music to get the game to sound realistic.

The Burj Khalifa, a really tall skyscraper, cost $1.5 billion and took six years to construct. It is expensive because of all the things Rockstar is putting into it. Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated they pushed it back to 2026 to ensure it’s good.

Journalist Jason Schreier mentioned Rockstar was in no rush and didn’t want to burn their employees out, so they gave themselves more time to do it properly.

Grand Hopes for GTA VI

Even with the high price, GTA VI will be a money maker. The previous game, GTA V, took in $7.7 billion in 10 years, with $800 million coming in one day. People believe it, costing $100 to purchase, will do even better.

It’s been 12 years since a GTA game was released, so everyone is really pumped up. They anticipate GTA VI to be a large open world and introduce new features.

Rockstar won’t discuss money, but investing so heavily indicates they’d like it to be huge. Everyone thinks that it’s going to be a big game, similar to the previous GTA games.
